Who Is Wolverine?

Wolverine — real name James Howlett, also known as Logan — is one of Marvel's most iconic mutant heroes. Born in late 19th-century Canada, he discovered his power to sprout bone claws from his knuckles during a traumatic childhood event. After decades of hard living and secret government experiments (most notably the Weapon X program), his skeleton and claws were coated with indestructible adamantium, making him one of the most dangerous fighters in the Marvel Universe. His mutant healing factor lets him shrug off wounds that would kill anyone else, and his enhanced senses make him a world-class tracker. He first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #181 (1974), famously clashing with both the Hulk and the Wendigo, and went on to become a cornerstone of the X-Men, later starring in countless solo series, team books, and blockbuster films.
