Who Are Batman's Enemies?

Batman has one of the richest rogues' galleries in all of comics! His most iconic enemy is The Joker, the Clown Prince of Crime, who first appeared in Batman #1. Two-Face (Harvey Dent), a former ally turned villain, is another cornerstone foe. The Riddler, Penguin, and Catwoman (who walks the line between enemy and love interest) round out the classic crew. On the darker side, Bane famously broke Batman's back in Knightfall, and Ra's al Ghul leads the League of Assassins with a grand plan to 'save' the world through mass destruction. Mr. Freeze, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn are also major villains who have become beloved characters in their own right. Truly, no hero has a more colorful cast of adversaries!
