Zippy Stories

Bill Griffith's Zippy Stories, published by Rip Off Press across two issues in 1977–1978, introduced the surreal, deadpan world of Zippy the Pinhead. This short-lived but foundational series launched the character's long-running career in underground comix, blending absurdist humor with sharp cultural commentary. Griffith's distinctive, minimalist art and offbeat dialogue established a unique voice that would define decades of alternative comics.
