Zanardi

Andrea Pazienza's Zanardi, published by Fantagraphics from 2017 onward, collects the celebrated Italian artist's anarchic, punk-inflected comics from the 1970s and '80s. Centered on the chaotic, perpetually broke student Zanardi, the series captures the political and social turbulence of its era with a raw, expressive line and darkly comedic sensibility. Though only a single issue has been released so far, Pazienza's work remains a landmark of European alternative comics, celebrated for its visceral energy and unflinching satire.
