Young King Cole

In 1951, Canadian publisher Bell Features launched Young King Cole, a short-lived two-issue comic series that paired the whimsical, fairy-tale title character with the bold, distinctive cover art of L. B. Cole and the interior work of Jim Wilcox. A minor but charming entry in the post-war Canadian comics landscape, the series is remembered today largely for Cole's striking, often surreal covers, which lend a collector's appeal to this brief, two-issue run.
