Yakari

From 1980 onward, Semic published this gentle all-ages series set in the American West, following the adventures of a young Sioux boy who can communicate with animals. Created by the Swiss team of writer Job and artist Derib, Yakari stands out for its warm, respectful portrayal of Native American life and its beautifully detailed natural landscapes. Though the publisher's English-language run was brief at just two issues, the series' enduring European popularity speaks to its timeless appeal as a thoughtful, visually rich comic for young readers.
