Word Warriors

In 1987, the Literacy Volunteers of Chicago published this single-issue comic to promote reading, featuring stories and art from George Hagenauer, Mark Wayne Harris, Dennis Francis, Gary Kato, and the Joe Kubert School. A unique charity project, Word Warriors uses the superhero genre to champion literacy, making it a notable artifact of community-driven comics publishing.
