Witzend
Wallace Wood · 1966–1968 · 4 issues
About the series
A showcase for some of the most distinctive talents of the 1960s, Witzend was a landmark independent comic published by Wallace Wood that ran for four issues between 1966 and 1968. Featuring the creator-owned work of Wood, Gray Morrow, and Steve Ditko—along with regular contributions from Roy Krenkel—the series broke from mainstream conventions to offer a raw, personal vision of the medium. It is best remembered for introducing Ditko’s uncompromising vigilante Mr. A and continuing Wood’s own detective Rex Graine, making it a crucial early document of the underground and alt-comics movements.
