Wild Bill Hickok

A long-running newspaper comic strip launched in 1951 by the Calvert publishing syndicate, Wild Bill Hickok chronicles the frontier adventures of the legendary lawman and gunslinger. The strip is most closely associated with its creator, writer and artist Charles R. Evans, who defined its look and tone for decades. Though it never produced a standalone comic book series, its sustained daily presence made it a durable, if quiet, fixture in mid-century newspaper entertainment.
