About the series
A long-running Viz original series, Whistle! (2004–2010) adapts the beloved soccer manga into an English-language comic, spanning 24 issues. The series is most closely associated with original creator Daisuke Higuchi, who contributed both writing and art, alongside a team including Naomi Kokubo, Marv Wolfman, Jim Keefe, and Mark Griffin. This translation brought Higuchi's story of a determined young player striving to make his mark on a competitive middle-school team to a new audience, offering a classic sports-underdog narrative with a distinctly manga-inspired visual style.
