Western Gunfighters
Horwitz · 1957–1958 · 11 issues
About the series
A gritty, fast-draw anthology from the late 1950s, Western Gunfighters was a short-lived Horwitz title that brought classic frontier action to the comic racks. With Stan Lee scripting many of its tales and artists like Maurice Bramley, Bob Brown, and Joe Maneely illustrating the dusty showdowns, it captured the twilight of the Western genre in comics. Though it only ran 11 issues, it stands as a snapshot of Marvel's pre-superhero era, when Lee and his collaborators were honing their craft on six-guns and saloon brawls.
