Weird Ripoffs

A minor but memorable entry in the annals of underground comix, Weird Ripoffs was a two-issue series from 1978, created and published by Clay Geerdes. True to its title, the comic gleefully parodied and pastiched the look and feel of popular newspaper strips and comic book genres of the era, serving as a playful, affectionate send-up of the medium's own conventions. Though brief, its existence captures the spirit of the self-published, creator-driven comix scene of the late 1970s.
