About the series
In the late 1980s, Malibu Comics launched Warlock 5, a seven-issue series that blended science fiction with fantasy. Written primarily by Barry Blair and Charles De Lint, with art by Blair and a young Dale Keown, the story follows a band of mercenaries navigating a war-torn alien world. It stands as an early showcase for Keown's dynamic, muscular style before his later fame, and captures the era's shift toward darker, more adult-oriented independent comics.
