Warheads
Warheads (1992–1993) was a Marvel UK series that followed a ragtag team of alien mercenaries—each with a unique power and a chip on their shoulder—as they took on galaxy-spanning missions for profit and survival. Running for 14 issues, the book was a key part of Marvel UK’s early-90s push into creator-owned-style sci-fi, with writers Nick Vince, Craig Huston, and John Freeman crafting its gritty, often morally ambiguous adventures. Artists Stuart Jennett, Simon Coleby, and Dave Taylor gave the series a distinctive, kinetic look that blended British comics’ raw energy with American-style superhero action. Though short-lived, Warheads stands as a cult favorite for its unapologetically weird characters and its place in the fertile era of Marvel’s UK imprint.
