About the series
In the late 1970s, the Dutch publisher De Schorpioen launched Wallestein het monster, a painted horror comic series that ran for 74 issues from 1978 to 1984. The series is most closely associated with the lush, lurid cover paintings of Italian artists Emanuele Taglietti and Alessandro Biffignandi, whose distinctive style gave the monster's adventures a uniquely European pulp atmosphere. A cult favorite among collectors of European horror comics, it stands as a vivid example of the genre's golden age in the Low Countries.
