About the series
A single-issue graphic novel originally published in French by Au Diable Vauvert in 2006, Violent Cases brings together writer Neil Gaiman and artist Dave McKean in an early collaboration. The story, adapted into French by Michel Pagel, explores memory and the unreliable nature of storytelling through a man’s recollection of his childhood encounters with an elderly osteopath who once treated Al Capone’s gangsters. This moody, experimental work is a key early example of Gaiman and McKean’s distinctive, atmospheric partnership.
