Vault of Demons
Gredown · 1977–1979 · 8 issues
About the series
From 1977 to 1979, Gredown’s Vault of Demons brought eight issues of macabre anthology horror to the spinner racks, anchored by the steady scripting of Joe Gill. The series was defined by its rotating artistic roster, most notably the distinctive work of Steve Ditko and Frank Bolle, who brought a chilling visual variety to each tale. At its heart, the book was a recurring vehicle for the spectral host Dr. Graves, a familiar figure in Charlton/Gredown horror who guided readers through a crypt of supernatural stories. It stands as a late-era example of the pre-Code-style horror comics that still thrived in the bronze age, showcasing top-tier talent in a compact, eerie run.
