About the series
In the mid-1970s, Red Clown published Varmblodig, a short-lived but striking three-issue series that blended pulp adventure with horror-tinged fantasy. Writer Don McGregor crafted the stories, with a rotating roster of artists including Boris Vallejo, Jose Antonio Domingo, and Rich Buckler, whose visceral, painted covers and interiors gave the book a distinctive, raw energy. Though brief, it stands as a curious artifact of its era, showcasing McGregor’s early, ambitious storytelling and Vallejo’s iconic fantasy art outside his more famous sword-and-sorcery work.
