Varg Veum

In 2004 and 2005, Westwind Forlag published a two-issue comic series adapting Gunnar Staalesen's celebrated Norwegian crime novels, with the author himself scripting the stories. Illustrated by Mike Collins and Kelly Thomas, these comics brought the hard-boiled detective Varg Veum to a new visual medium, capturing the gritty atmosphere of Bergen. Though brief, the series stands as a notable literary-to-comics adaptation by the creator of the original source material.
