About the series
In the late 1970s, Danish publisher Semic launched Valhalla, a three-issue comic series that reimagined Norse mythology with a warm, humorous touch. Most closely associated with writer-artist Peter Madsen, who collaborated with writers Hans Rancke-Madsen and Henning Kure, this short-lived but influential run introduced a beloved, character-driven take on the gods of Asgard. Though brief, the series laid the groundwork for the acclaimed, long-running Valhalla graphic novel series that followed, cementing its place as a cornerstone of modern Danish comics.
