Universal Comics

Frank Johnson Publications launched Universal Comics in 1946 with a single issue, a slim but ambitious anthology that aimed to offer a sampler of the publisher's early genre range. Though the series never continued beyond that debut, it remains a curious footnote from the dawn of the postwar comic boom, capturing the broad-strokes promise of a company testing the marketplace.
