Underdog

Over two issues in the late 1980s, Spotlight Comics revived the beloved cartoon hero Underdog in a short but spirited comic series. Writers Jim Main, John A. Wilcox, and Mark Marcus, alongside artists Gary Fields and Peter Fitzgerald, brought the canine crimefighter back to battle his familiar foes, including the dastardly Simon Bar Sinister and his henchmen Cad Lackey and Riff Raff. Shoeshine Boy and Sweet Polly Purebred joined the action, keeping the classic charm of the original series alive for a new generation of readers. Though brief, this run stands as a fond, faithful tribute to one of animation’s most memorable underdogs.
