Un génie incompris

The long-running French comic series Un génie incompris, launched in 1841 by publisher Aubert, is a satirical single-issue work most closely associated with its artist, Amédée de Noé, who worked under the pseudonym Cham. A classic of 19th-century French caricature, it lampoons the misunderstood genius archetype with Cham's sharp, witty illustrations. Its enduring significance lies in its place as an early, influential example of sequential comic art in Europe.
