About the series
In 2004, Marvel launched Ultimate Nightmare, a five-issue miniseries written by Warren Ellis that kicked off a trilogy of interconnected stories within the Ultimate Universe. With artwork by Trevor Hairsine and Steve Epting, the series introduced a chilling, cosmic threat as a mysterious object crashes in Russia, drawing the Ultimate versions of the X-Men, the Ultimates, and other heroes into a tense, paranoid investigation. It matters as a key piece of Ellis's ambitious, mature take on the Ultimate line, weaving together espionage, body horror, and the first hints of a larger alien menace.
