About the series
In 1999, Troma Comics adapted Lloyd Kaufman's cult film into a two-issue comic miniseries, bringing the studio's signature blend of low-budget, transgressive humor to the page. Written by James Gunn and drawn by Timothy Callahan, this irreverent retelling of Shakespeare's classic trades Verona for a punk-rock New York City, where the Montagues and Capulets are rival porn studios. A short, outrageous burst of Troma's anarchic spirit, it remains a niche but memorable artifact of late-90s independent comics.
