About the series
Published by Nerbini from 1932 to 1935, Topolino (giornale) was the first Italian comic series to feature Mickey Mouse, adapting Floyd Gottfredson's beloved newspaper strips for a local audience. Over 136 issues, the series blended translated Disney adventures with original Italian material, notably from writer/artist Buriko and writer Paolo Lorenzini, while Giove Toppi contributed to its visual identity. This pioneering publication established a lasting template for Disney comics in Italy, bridging American cartooning with Italian comic traditions.
