About the series
In the early 2010s, German publisher Egmont Ehapa released Tokyo Summer of the Dead, a four-issue miniseries that transplants classic zombie horror into a neon-lit Tokyo summer. The story follows a group of young survivors trapped in the city as the dead rise, blending visceral survival tension with the claustrophobic isolation of an urban apocalypse. Though a brief run, the series stands out for its atmospheric fusion of Japanese cultural landmarks and Western zombie tropes, offering a fresh, geographically distinct take on the genre.
