In 2019, Egmont Ehapa launched Tokyo Girls, a nine-issue series that blends Japanese pop culture with Western-style superheroics. The story follows a group of young women in Tokyo who discover they possess extraordinary abilities, drawing on the aesthetics of manga and anime while being written and illustrated by a German creative team. Though short-lived, the series stands out for its cross-cultural approach, introducing European readers to a fresh take on the magical-girl genre.
