Tits & Clits

Nanny Goat Productions; Last Gasp · 1977–1987 · 4 issues
About the series

One of the earliest and most defiantly independent underground comix series, Tits & Clits ran for four issues from 1977 to 1987, initially self-published by Nanny Goat Productions before being picked up by Last Gasp. Created by a core of pioneering women cartoonists including Joyce Farmer, Roberta Gregory, and Carla Abbotts, with standout art from Dori Seda, the series was a raw, unapologetically feminist response to the male-dominated underground scene. It matter because it carved out space for women to tell their own stories about sexuality, politics, and daily life without censorship, featuring recurring character The Bosomic Woman as a satirical superhero. A landmark in the history of women in comics, it remains a vital artifact of the second-wave feminist comix movement.
