They'll Do It Every Time

Jimmy Hatlo’s long-running gag panel, launched by Pocket Books in 1945 and continuing to the present, lampoons the everyday foibles and hypocrisies of modern life with a wry, affectionate eye. Hatlo, both writer and artist, built the series around his signature “Little Iodine” character and a rotating cast of exasperated everymen. A pioneering example of the single-panel newspaper comic translated to book form, it remains a fondly remembered touchstone of mid-century American humor.
