Over four issues from 2009, Boom! Studios published The Unknown, a taut supernatural mystery from writer Mark Waid and artist Minck Oosterveer. The series follows a brilliant but terminally ill detective who, determined to solve the greatest puzzle of all, sets out to prove the existence of the afterlife before her own death.
