The Surrogates

Set in a future where people interact through lifelike robotic avatars, The Surrogates is a noir-tinged graphic novel from Top Shelf that launched in 2006. Written by Robert Venditti with moody, watercolor-style art by Brett Weldele, this single-issue series explores crime, identity, and the consequences of a society that has traded physical experience for remote-controlled perfection. Its taut, self-contained story became a touchstone for thoughtful sci-fi in comics.
