About the series
In the late 1980s, NBM published The Silent Invasion, a four-issue miniseries that offered a paranoid, cerebral take on alien infiltration. Associated with writer/artist Larry Hancock, the story grounds its extraterrestrial threat in Cold War-era anxieties about surveillance and control. Its moody, black-and-white artwork and slow-burn tension helped distinguish it as a thoughtful alternative to more bombastic superhero fare of the era.
