In The Shadow Kingdom (2024–present, Arrow), writer and artist Tyler Crook launches a moody fantasy-horror series where a young woman inherits a mysterious, decaying estate and discovers the land is haunted by a forgotten, parasitic kingdom beneath her feet. The debut issue establishes a slow-burn atmosphere of dread and folkloric menace, with Crook’s lush, watercolor-style art giving the decaying manor and its surrounding woods an almost tactile, rotting beauty. This series marks a return to creator-owned, personal storytelling for Crook, blending the quiet unease of rural gothic with the weight of legacy and the monstrous cost of homecoming.
