About the series
For two years in the late 1980s, DC Comics revived the classic pulp hero in The Shadow Annual, a short-lived series anchored by writers Andrew and Andy Helfer. The art, primarily by Joe Orlando and Kyle Baker, brought a distinct visual energy to the Shadow's grim urban crusade. Though only two issues were published, the annuals offered a concentrated dose of the character's signature blend of menace and mystery, making them a notable footnote in the Shadow's DC tenure.
