The Rocketeer

Dave Stevens' sleek, retro-adventure creation took flight in a single 1987 issue from Norbert Hethke Verlag, introducing a pulp-inspired hero whose rocket-pack exploits would define a genre. Co-written with Manfred Wüsthoff and illustrated entirely by Stevens, this German-published comic captured the Art Deco glamour and daredevil spirit of 1930s serials. Though brief, its iconic design and heartfelt storytelling established The Rocketeer as a lasting touchstone for modern adventure comics.
