The Rise of Ultraman

Marvel Comics brought the classic Japanese hero to the American mainstream with The Rise of Ultraman (2020–2021), a five-issue miniseries that reimagined the character’s origin for a new audience. Scripted by Kyle Higgins and Mat Groom with striking art by Francesco Manna, the story follows the discovery of a mysterious giant warrior and the human scientist who bonds with him to defend Earth from colossal threats. It’s a fresh, respectful take that honored the tokusatsu legacy while introducing Ultraman’s legacy of light to Marvel’s readership.
