About the series

A long-running Viz Media series, The Prince of Tennis adapts Takeshi Konomi’s original manga for English-speaking readers, following the story of young tennis prodigy Ryoma Echizen as he joins the Seishun Academy team. Running for 42 issues from 2004 to 2011, the series is most closely associated with Konomi’s art and writing, with translation by Joe Yamazaki and additional scripting by Gerard Jones. It became a cornerstone of sports manga in English, bringing the high-energy matches and character-driven rivalries to a new audience.
