About the series
In the mid-2000s, Marvel revived a classic team concept with The New Invaders, a 10-issue series that reunited Golden Age heroes with modern-day operatives. Written primarily by Allan Jacobsen and Chuck Austen, with art from Scott Kolins, C. P. Smith, and Jorge Lucas, the book followed Johnny Walker, U.S.Agent, Namor, and the original Human Torch, Jim Hammond, as they clashed with a new threat. Though Captain America and Steve Rogers appeared, the focus was on legacy and the gritty, espionage-flavored side of the Marvel Universe. It stands as a short but memorable attempt to bridge World War II heroics with the contemporary Marvel landscape.
