About the series
In the mid-90s, Now Comics brought the iconic anime hero Speed Racer back to the printed page with The New Adventures of Speed Racer (1993–1994). This eight-issue series, most frequently written by Steve Sullivan and Patrick Williams, and illustrated by artists including Óscar González Loyo, Frank Rocco, and Kurt Conner, expanded Speed's world with unexpected crossovers. Alongside Speed, his brother Racer X, and the Green Hornet and Kato, the series even featured Al and Bud Bundy from Married... with Children, creating a uniquely eclectic mashup of pop culture. It stands as a colorful, fast-paced relic of the 90s licensed-comic boom.
