The Micronauts

A collaboration between Marvel Comics and the Mego toy company, The Micronauts launched in 1979, adapting the popular action figure line into a cosmic comic saga. The series, primarily defined by writer Bill Mantlo and artist Michael Golden, sent the heroic Micronauts—including Commander Arcturus Rann and the time-traveling Acroyear—on a quest across the Microverse to overthrow the tyrannical Baron Karza. Though the original run lasted only one issue from Alemar's Bookstore, its imaginative world-building and Mantlo's heartfelt, operatic storytelling established the property as a cult classic in 1970s science-fiction comics.
