The King Is a Fink

From 1969 to 1977, Gold Medal Books published six issues of The King Is a Fink, a comic series that brought the medieval humor of the Wizard of Id strip to a larger format. Created by writer Johnny Hart and artist Brant Parker, the series follows the misadventures of the tyrannical, pint-sized King and his long-suffering subjects, with Parker’s expressive, cartoonish art giving life to the strip’s sharp, slapstick satire of power and bureaucracy. While a short run, it remains a notable expansion of one of the most beloved newspaper comic strips of the era.
