About the series
A six-issue Image Comics series launched in 2011, The Intrepids teams writer Kurtis J. Wiebe with artist Scott Kowalchuk for a fast-paced, sci-fi adventure following a team of misfit geniuses on a globe-trotting mission. The story centers on a disgraced scientist who assembles a crew of child prodigies, now adults, to stop a madman from weaponizing a dangerous new technology. Kowalchuk's energetic, cartoon-influenced art brings a playful, cinematic feel to the series' blend of heist thrills and high-concept science. Though a brief run, it stands as an early showcase for Wiebe's knack for ensemble-driven storytelling.
