The Goon: Noir

In 2007, Dark Horse released this single-issue special that took the rough-and-tumble world of the Goon and filtered it through a moody, black-and-white lens. Written by John Arcudi and painted by Kevin Nowlan, The Goon: Noir strips away the series' usual humor to spotlight its shadowy, pulp-inflected heart. It's a stylish, self-contained detour that shows the range of the Goon's universe, pairing Arcudi's gritty dialogue with Nowlan's atmospheric, noir-drenched art.
