The Darkness

From 1997 to 2001, Juniorpress published The Darkness, a 21-issue series that introduced a gritty supernatural antihero into the comics landscape. Written primarily by Scott Lobdell, Malachy Coney, and David Wohl, with moody, detailed artwork from Joe Benitez, Clarence Lansang, and David Finch, the series explored a mobster’s struggle with a cursed, otherworldly power. Its blend of crime noir and dark fantasy helped define the publisher’s edgy, early-2000s aesthetic.
