About the series
Launching in 1996 from Image Comics, The Darkness introduced a brooding antihero bonded to an ancient, sentient force of shadow and power. Co-created by Marc Silvestri, the series was primarily written by David Wohl and Mike Manczarek, with Silvestri and Billy Tan handling the moody, detailed artwork. This debut issue established the supernatural crime saga that would become a cornerstone of the Top Cow universe, blending mobster grit with dark fantasy.
