The Crow

James O'Barr's The Crow is a landmark of independent comics, first published by Caliber Press in 1989. This four-issue series, written and illustrated entirely by O'Barr, follows the undead avenger Eric, who is resurrected by a mystical crow to exact brutal vengeance on those who murdered him and his fiancée. A raw, expressionistic work of grief and fury, it became a touchstone of the Dark Age of comics and a foundational gothic horror-fantasy.
