The Chronicles of Corum
First · 1987–1988 · 12 issues
About the series
Based on Michael Moorcock's fantasy novels, The Chronicles of Corum ran for twelve issues from 1987 to 1988, published by First Comics. The series brought the Eternal Champion in his incarnation as the Prince in the Scarlet Robe to comics, scripted by Moorcock alongside Mike Baron and Mark Shainblum. Its most visually distinctive element is the early, moody artwork of a young Mike Mignola, whose shadowy, blocky style perfectly suited the tragic, Celtic-tinged fantasy of the multiverse. It remains a key artifact for fans of both Moorcock's mythos and Mignola's formative work.
