About the series
A short-lived but culturally sharp comic series from Dargaud Benelux, The Boondocks (2003–present) adapts Aaron McGruder's incendiary newspaper strip into a pair of oversized, full-color issues. Known for its biting satire of race, politics, and pop culture through the eyes of the Freeman family—especially the militant Huey and the materialistic Riley—the series captures the same unflinching voice that made the strip a phenomenon. Though only two issues were published, it stands as a key artifact of early-2000s alternative comics, bridging the newspaper page and the eventual animated series with McGruder's signature mix of humor and outrage.
