The Boondocks

Aaron McGruder's The Boondocks began as a sharp, politically charged newspaper comic strip from Andrews McMeel, launching in 2000 and running for nearly two decades. Centered on the Huey and Riley Freeman, two brothers from the South Side of Chicago adjusting to life in the overwhelmingly white suburbs, the strip used its deceptively simple art to deliver blistering social commentary on race, pop culture, and American hypocrisy.
